We kicked off our match against Sheffield with a great start, showcasing some impressive teamwork from the get-go. Our defence, featuring Lucy, Charlotte, Vik, and Kirsty, displayed excellent passing round the back, helping us maintain possession and build our plays. In the midfield, Amy, Meg, and Hannah were brilliant at forming tight passing triangles, demonstrating their understanding of working together in pairs to outmanoeuvre the opposition. With some great saves from Shanie we were entering half time on a draw.
By half-time, the score stood at 0-0, but the atmosphere was electric, and we were absolutely buzzing! A well-deserved break saw us enjoying some refreshing oranges and sweets, which really perked us up. Our captain, Amy, delivered an inspiring team talk that left us raring to go for the second half.
As the second half began, our forwards—Polly, Bronwyn, Phoebe, and Sophia—really got into their stride, creating several great opportunities to score. Despite our efforts, Sheffield managed to find the back of the net first. However, we refused to let this setback dampen our spirits. A foot in the D resulted in a short corner for us, which, unfortunately, just whizzed past the post.
Sheffield again struck, scoring their second goal, but we didn't let it get us down. The match was a fantastic display of back-and-forth play, with both teams demonstrating great link-up and perseverance. We played so well together, showing real grit and determination on the pitch.
As the final whistle blew, it was clear that we had given it our all in what was an exhilarating match. With our heads held high, we now look forward to our final game next week at home against Lindum.
