Driffield Ladies Second team travelled to Skegness to play Alford and District 1 filled with confidence from their previous win.
With first pushback, midfielders Amy, Sophia and Meg worked hard to distribute the ball across the pitch with their eyes on the goal. Alford came in strong however and despite the defensive efforts from Kirsty, Lucy, Charlotte, Hannah and Shanie they were able to break through and score an unfortunate goal early on in the game. Driffield kept their heads up and remained calm to maintain possession. This meant that forwards Bella, Bronwyn and Phoebe could work together to gain a short corner, which was scored from a powerful drag flick from Amy, equalising the score.
Driffield worked hard for the rest of the first half, however strong play from Alford and some questionable decisions from the referee resulted in the score being 5-1 at half time.
After a motivating half time talk from Amy Driffield went back out with their heads up. Alongside the other forwards Hattie was able to manipulate the ball around the Alford defence resulting in another short corner scored with a skilful drag flick perfectly executed by Amy.
Driffield kept composure and with many expert saves from Shanie were able to keep Alford from scoring. This allowed Lauren to use her strong skills to progress towards the goal and bang it into the net.
With the score now being 5-3 Driffield spirits stayed high as they fought to win the ball and keep possession. Unfortunately Alford managed to gain a short corner in the last minute securing them a goal, making the final score 6-3.
