What an exhilarating match. Our defenders, Emily B, Kirsty, Meg, and Phoebe, set a solid foundation, displaying excellent communication and resilience at the back. As the game unfolded, the midfield of Fiona, Amy, Kiera and the two Hannah's, worked tirelessly to distribute the ball effectively and maintain possession.
A standout moment came when Bella made a superb play across the D, sending the ball crashing into the back of the net, giving us an early lead. However, Alford responded with vigor, equalising shortly after. The midfield continued to hustle, and Driff earned a short corner. From the top of the D, a powerful shot came off the keeper, but Hannah A seized the opportunity, dribbling around the back line and flicking it past the keeper to score.
At half-time, our captain Amy gathered the team for some inspirational words, while Kirsty provided some tactical oranges. The second half saw Em C and Clemmie move the ball up the pitch and Bella once again deliver a brilliant ball, which Polly swept home, putting us ahead at 3-2. Some amazing saves from Shanie but unfortunately Alford wasn't finished, levelling the score at 3-3 with a well-placed lift into the net.
As the clock wound down, a final push saw Fiona smash the ball into the back of the net just before the whistle blew, sealing the game at 4-3. What a match! Brilliant play from everyone involved!
